- How we started
- Himeji Refugee Reception Center for Indonesian People was closed in 1966, those people who completed a program on teaching Japanese started a class to assist Vietnamese people in learning Japanese on the campus of Himeji Dokkyo University, this class was called `Daigaku Kyoushitsu`. At the same time we held other classes in the two iron work factories, Ichikawadai Iron Works class (which was closed in May 97) and Ito ironworks class (which was closed in December 97). We also visited the houses of Vietnamese learners and taught Japanese, this project was closed in February 01. We transferred the Daigaku Kyoushitsu from the campus to the meeting room in Shiei Ichkawadai danchi or Municipal Housing Area in Ichikawadai, where many Vietnamese lived (this class was called Ishikawadai Kyoushitsu). This class was closed in March 04. We also assisted Vietnamese who lived in Kenei Nozato danchi or in Prefectural Housing area in Nozato (this class was called Nozato Kyoushitsu and closed in October 02). We opened a class in Joto Kouminkan or Joto Community Center in October 02, this class was called Joto Kyoushitsu instead of closing Nozato kyoshitsu down. We have continued activities assisting parents and children who want to learn Japanese in this location since then.
