Request for Your Cooperation in a Survey for Children

This survey will be conducted with your prior consent to ensure that your child’s valuable opinions are collected safely and appropriately.
Please review the following information. If you understand and agree, then we kindly ask for your cooperation.

1. Purpose of the Survey

This survey aims to understand the Japanese language learning and related living conditions and perspectives of children from multicultural and multilingual backgrounds. The findings will be used to improve training programs for those who support Japanese language education.
* This survey is not conducted for commercial purposes.

2. Overview of the Survey

•    Participants: Children from the fifth year of elementary school to the third year of junior high school / children aged 10–15
•    Method: Online questionnaire (web form)
•    Estimated time: Approximately 20–30 minutes
•    Survey period: From July 13 to September 30, 2026 (tentative schedule)

3. Voluntary Participation

Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary for both parents/guardians and children.
•    There will be no disadvantages if you choose not to participate.
•    You may stop answering the questionnaire at any time, even after starting.
If your child feels that they do not want to answer or wishes to stop, please respect their feelings and do not force them to continue.

4. Parental Consent

This questionnaire will only be conducted after a parent/guardian has reviewed this information and given consent.
At the beginning of the online questionnaire, your child will be asked whether a parent/guardian has read the explanation and given consent.
If you do not provide consent, selecting “No” will end the questionnaire at that point.
We kindly ask that you review the questionnaire and allow your child to begin only if you consider it appropriate.
* You do not need to check your child’s answers. After providing consent, please allow your child to respond freely. The questionnaire is provided in easy Japanese and in multiple languages so that children can complete it on their own.

5. Handling of Personal Information

•    The questionnaire does not collect personally identifiable information such as names, addresses, or school names.
•    Responses will be collected and analyzed anonymously.
•    The collected information will not be used for purposes other than this survey.
•    For accurate analysis, responses may be analyzed with the cooperation of researchers with relevant expertise. In such cases, all data will be shared in a form that does not allow identification of individuals. The results may be presented in research publications, reports, or training materials; however, no individual will be identified.

The results of this survey will be statistically processed and may be used for:
•    Reports
•    Materials for program planning
•    Public summaries on websites or other platforms
No information that could identify individuals will be disclosed.
